  • Splash Page Comic Arts auction

Splash Page Comic Art is putting together a book entitled “The Artists of Splash Page Comic Art”. It will feature all sorts of art by 53 artists that are shown on the Splash Page Comic Art webpage. It will be limited to 3000 copies, and will be available for sale at the San Diego Comic Con on on July 25th at booth 5101 & 5200.

For now though, you can head over to the auction area and snag some of the original works that were used for this book. The work shown above is from Ben Templesmith and is of his character Wormwood. A great character and this piece is very cool. Ben’s work tends to sell quickly and the value rises swiftly. Some of the other artists that you can get work from are: Charlie Adlard (Walking Dead), Lee Bermejo, Greg Land, Paolo Rivera and many others.

Head on over to this link to look at the auctions, and make sure if you hit the Comic Con to pick this book up.

‘Ben Templesmith has some very exclusive limited prints for sale. They are are of Felecia Pussnkop and Starbird Black from the artbook “Conluvio”

Hea d on over to buy one of the prints, or just gawk at them. I’m personally waiting for a nice Wormwood print. I love that character of Ben’s and won’t mind waiting for one of those.

  • Harry Potter giclee prints

Well today is the day that the latest movie, “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix” comes out in theaters. I will be making my way to see it sometime today, sans Hogwarts Scarf and wand though, I’m a fan but not that hardcore.

I did decide to go looking for some Harry Potter art though, mainly by the cover artist Mary Grandpre. She does all of the cover art for the books, and has a pretty cool style. I found a good amount of prints, and it looks like all of them are from editions of 250.

You can find them all here at the Animation Art Gallery.
Or if you want a save some cash, you can head over and grab some from this seller who has four of the prints for sale: Harry Potter Prints

  • New Dan May giclee at Blue Bottle Art

There is a new Dan May giclee print available at the Blue Bottle Art Gallery.

The piece is called “Belly of the Beast” and is 11.7″ x 12″. It looks great, I really dig the colors and the transparency of that ghostly white body.

I’ve actually purchased work from Blue Bottle Art Gallery before, and they are wonderful to deal with. The painting that I bought was packaged very well, and came in perfect condition. If you order this print, there is no doubt that it will arrive perfect, ready for framing.

Here is where you can order it: Blue Bottle Art Gallery

  • Arthur Suydam Original Watercolor

Arthur Suydam, the cover artist on many zombie comics as of late such as Marvel Zombies, Raise the Dead and even the new Tick comic.

He has a great style, and possibly makes the best looking zombies, well next to Bernie Wrightson.
This piece is not a zombie, but is a remix on the Vitruvian Man, but in a cyborg kind of way.
    It’s one of a kind, watercolor 11″ x 12″ on paper that is 16.5″ x 11″.

You can also check the website listed to see all the covers Suydam has done, with the original that inspired it.

  • “Face Off”, Joe Ledbetter original

There is currently a Joe Ledbetter original acrylic painting for sale right now. It’s 24×24″ and looks quite smooth.

The most important thing about this auction is the example that I wanted to show. If you head over to the auction, you will see that the seller gives provenance for the painting (Gallery 1988), with signed proof. This is ideal for buying works through auction sites, especially when they are this expensive.

You can’t always get signed proof, but if you can get as close as possible to tracing down where the work came from, the less likely you’ll get ripped off.

  • Garbage Pail art by John Cebollero

John Cebollero has an original piece for sale. It’s 8.5×11 acrylic paint on bristol board. It will also come with a certificate of authenticity.

The name of this painting is “scrapped BROOKE”, and it looks like it came from the 6th series of GPK.

It looks great, I love the colors and of course if you collected the cards like I did, it’s also quite nostalgic.

Here it is if you want it. Scrapped BROOKE
