The most recent incarnation of the 13th Hour group show at the Last Rites Gallery opened this past Friday, October 29th. I am told by a few of the artist that attended the reception, that all went well, and it was one of the best show yet. The full show is now online to view, and seeing how today is Halloween you might want to head on over and check out some of the art. There is some really amazing work in this show, once again Scott G Brooks creates a mind-blowing painting, and I love how Sarah Joncas created something creepy in a Hitchcock kind of way.

Exclusive Preview: 13th Hour @ Last Rites Gallery
Coming this Friday, October 29th, the Last Rites Gallery in New York will host the third annual “13th Hour” group exhibition, just in time for Halloween. The previous two 13th Hour shows were amazing, and from the lineup of participating artists this year will be the best one yet. Starting at 7pm, fans will see work from Paul Booth, Scott G. Brooks, Caniglia, John Cebollero, David R. Choquette, Christopher Conte, Brendan Danielsson, Jason D’Aquino, Pedro De Kastro, Paul Gerrard, Fred Harper, Naoto Hattori, Charlie Immer, Sarah Joncas, Laurie Lipton, Travis Louie, Michael Mararian, Chris Mars, Richard Meyer, Chris Peters, Anthony Pontius, Pooch, Paul Rumsey, José Manuel Schmill, David Stoupakis, Brian M. Viveros, Jasmine Worth, and Chet Zar.

Attack of the B Movie Show
“The Attack of the B Movie Show” opened April 14th at the Space Gallery in San Francisco. I have always been a fan of B Movie Cinema, and wanted to see what these artists could do with the theme. “New Breed” @ Last Rites Gallery
Just this Saturday, August 1st at the Last Rites Gallery in New York the group show “New Breed” opened. The features work by 10, emerging artists that have never been shown at Last Rites before. The list of participating artist is: David R. Choquette (shown), Shay Davis, Mickey M Edtinger, Paul Gerrard, Charlie Immer, Sara Antoinette Martin, Richard Meyer, Reuben Negrón, Chris Peters & Kurt Wiscombe.
If you have been a reader of the Creep Machine for a while now, you will know David R. Choquette from the “Attack of the B Movie Show”. He entered an amazing Killer Klown painting. He has three in this show, each one looks outstanding. I’m glad he has had the opportunity to show at such a great gallery. Another familiar name is Paul Gerrard, having been featured on the site three times so far. I love his work, and am happy people are seeing how exciting digital art can be. I was also happy to see Charlie Immer (shown). He has been putting out some paintings that are just a blast to look at. Some of these painting have been in a few galleries already, quite possibly due to the price of his working getting too high too fast maybe? The card also shows a painting by Reuben Negron, and while he is in the show that specific piece does not seem to be. He is a very talented painter, one that I have been watching for a while now. He works primarily in watercolors, a medium I have great respect for and seems to be gaining more popularity.

art of the day: “Untitled” by David R. Choquette
Today’s piece is from Montral based tattooist David R. Choquette. Most of his paintings and drawings are quite small, but they are packed with details. From his bio on the Beinart site, it says that he obsesses over every square inch. I can believe that, if you look close at his work there is amazing texture and subtle details. For instance, the skin in this piece looks like you can see the blue tint of blood beneath the flesh.His work has that same kind of haunting feel and vibe that Chet Zar, Karl Persson & even Zdzislaw Beksinski has. David is also one of the artists that will be showing work at the Attack of the B Movie show. I’ve been able to see the piece that will be in the show and it looks amazing. Just to give a teaser, the piece David is showing is based on “Killer Klowns From Outer Space”.
