Tradition here on the site, even though we have missed a year, is to have a Halloween Art Feature. This year we have art by a great lineup of artists including: Augie Pagan, Chris Mars, Chet Zar, Jaime Lee Parker, Tim Bruckner, Jason Hite, Menton J Mathews, Colin Christian, Mike Bell, Alex Gross, Randy Ortiz, David Stoupakis, Dan Harding, Dean McDowell, Tom Bagshaw and Bennett Slater.

Dean McDowell has been a little quiet for the past few months, but he’s been busy creating new work and has just released a new limited edition print. Entitled “Autumn Shimmer”, this print is 13.7″ x 13.7″ on 350 gr Hahnemuhle paper, signed and numbered in an edition of 22. It is rare that Dean releases a print, so if you have been waiting for the opportunity to score work from this artist now is the perfect time.
Dean McDowell has been a little quiet lately, but recently released a new painting he has been working on, and the silence was worth it. The painting is a bit different than Dean’s previous works as it shows some amazingly foreshortened hands. Some of his past works have eluded to Dean incorporating more physical elements into his work, and I like the way this is going so far. Is there a possibility we will see a full figure from Dean in the future? I hope so. Head on over to Dean’s homepage for more work, and be sure to check him out on Facebook as well for any news and upcoming releases.
If you are a long time reader of the site, the name Dean McDowell is a familiar one. He had works in not only the “Attack of the B Movie Show“, but the “This is the End” group show as well. He recently got his homepage running again, has been featured on a bunch of art sites around the net, and most importantly has some new work to share. Makes sure you check out Dean’s new homepage, and follow him on the various social networks.
Halloween is upon us again, one of my favorite times of the year. Not only is it filled with great memories of being a kid, eating too much candy and watching horror movies late into the night, but this season is when some of the creepiest art is made. This is the second year I have posted a Halloween feature, and hopefully this one is even better. Head on over to the feature page and see work by: Chris Murray, Charlie Immer, Apricot Mantle, Scott Move, Naoto Hattori, Jessica Ward, Dean McDowell, Esao Andrews, Brian Smith, Dennis Brown, Dan Harding, Ryan Heshka, Celene Petrulak, Adrian Borda, Ego, Buddy Nestor, Edward Frausto, Laurie Lipton, Dave MacDowell, Jehan Choo, Natalie Shau, Joshua Carlton, Dan Hipp, Dienzo, Sarah Joncas, Chet Zar, Chris Brodahl, JR Williams, Tom Haubrick, Nicole Absher, Larkin, and Nouar.
If there is any art you find creepy, that hasn’t been added to this gallery, add the link to the art in the comments.

Dean McDowell has been pretty busy the past year with being a new father, but he recently got back into painting and while have some new works for the upcoming “”Twilight Journeys” show at the Alternative Cafe opening October 8th. Congrats to Dean on being a new dad, and we’re happy to see him back making amazing paintings.

On Friday Eclectix Gallery opened it’s Fourth Halloween themed group show, “Dementions”. There were 50 artists participating in the show, Dan Harding, Scott Hove, Sean Chappell, Brooke Kent, Jackie Gallagher, Buddy Nestor, Dean McDowell, Isabel Samaras and many more. This was the first time that I had been to the new location of Eclectix. The space is much bigger with the shop downstairs and the gallery space upstairs. The weather that night wasn’t that bad, but upstairs in the gallery the temperature was that of a hot summer day. So it was a good idea for me to take a break outside, get some fresh air and wait for the crowd to cool down anyway.
“The Attack of the B Movie Show” opened April 14th at the Space Gallery in San Francisco. I have always been a fan of B Movie Cinema, and wanted to see what these artists could do with the theme. The participating artists were: 8Pussy, Alex Kuno, Andrew Barr, Arabella Proffer, Bill 13:11 McEvoy, Brandi Read, Christopher Uminga, David Macdowell, David R. Choquette, Dean McDowell, Rick “Dienzo” Blanco, Drew Falchetta, Ego, Emma Mount, Greg Houston, Heather Watts, Irene Mendonis, Jason Rudolphpena, Jesse Balmer, John Cebollero, Josh Callaway, Ken Garduno, Meatspider, Mr. Christopher, R.M. Hanson, Ryan De La Hoz “DELI”, S.L. Grice, Sam Ramos, Tanya Pshenychny, Tatiana Suarez & Tom Haubs.
