  • “They Live” poster by Shepard Fairey

Just a day ago I posted news on a “They Live” poster by Shepard Fairey from Alamo Drafthouse . The poster was released on Mondotees and in record time, as always with the prints they release, it sold out in minutes. “They Live” is one of my favorite movies, along with another Carpenter classic “The Thing”. There has already been quite a lot of art created that was inspired by “They Live”, much of it is OK not amazing. With the secrecy and hype for this print I was really expecting something outstanding, the stencil photo even got you prepared for it. Once the final image was released however, I wasn’t blown away and I noticed many fans weren’t either. I tried to figure out why there is something off about this print and I think I figured it out. It has the same color palette and textures that make so many of Fairey’s prints look as good as they do, and since he has used the Obey imagery from this movie quite a lot it should be a perfect fit. I think the problem is that while this is supposed to be a “They Live” poster, something to commemorate the movie itself, it looks more like a Shepard Fairey print with the “They Live” title and credits added as an afterthought. What do you think?

  • Dracula poster by Vania Zouravliov and Aaron Horkey

Saw this ver at Omgposters.com and had to share it here. Mondotees is gearing up to release an amazing new print to start the new year off. Created by Vania Zouravliov and Aaron Horkey, “Dracula” is a 23.75″ x 34″ screenprint, the standard is in an edition of 330 for $60 and the variant is in an edition of 70 for $110. Both prints were done by Burlesque design and printed with metallic inks. Even though Mondotees has released some truly great prints throughout the past year, this is my favorite so far. The prints go up at a random time today on the site.

  • Olly Moss Star Wars Posters @ Mondotees

Olly Moss has created a series of Star Wars posters for Mondotees, that will be released this Monday, December 20th at a random time. Each one of the prints is 24″ x 36″, signed and numbered in edition of 400 for $50 each. You can also buy the whole set at once, and from what I have heard get all three prints with the same edition number. These are some seriously killer looking prints. At first glance they seem minimal, but the details are pretty clever such as using the moons, trees, and cloud city to finish the main details in the three characters. I have a feeling these prints are going to sell out fast, so keep your eyes the website.

  • “Bounty Hunters Wave 2” prints by Ken Taylor

Mondotees is continuing the release of Star Wars inspired prints, and are ready to drop Wave 2 of the Bounty Hunter series by Ken Taylor. This set includes three separate 12″ x 36″ prints, featuring “4-lom”, “Boba Fett”, and “Dengar”. The prints were made by D&L Screen Printing, and are signed and numbered in an edition of 425. With a price of $85 for the set, and the inclusion of Boba Fett, I don’t think these prints will last long at all. They drop this Thursday, October 7th at a random time, so keep your eyes on the site.
