  • Preview: Jason Snyder, Paul Barnes, Joe Scarano, & Roland Tamayo @ Rivet

Opening this Saturday, May 7th at Rivet Art in Columbus, OH a group show featuring the work of Jason Snyder, Paul Barnes, Joe Scarano, & Roland Tamayo opens. A majority of the work is from Jason Snyder, and I really like the combination of the color palettes and the frames that Jason chose for his works. The show flows very well and is worth a look. Keep your eye on the site for the full show to be posted.

  • “Broken Hearts and Party Hats” @ Rivet art

On February 5th, Rivet Art in Columbus, OH opened a duo show entitled “Broken Hearts and Party Hats”. The show features work by Jeffrey Richter and Columbus native, Gunnar. The paintings by Gunnar are good, but it was hard to pay attention to them with the work of Jeffrey Richter right above. I like the classical and industrial blend he has to his work. Each of his drawings are created with black and white charcoal on colored paper (Mi Tientes?), and then placed in an antique frame. It’s a great show, and you may like Gunnar’s work more than I did, so check out the full show after the preview.

  • Preview: Tyson McAdoo “Black Smoke White Lies” @ Rivet Art

Opening this August 7th at Rivet Art is a new solo show entitled “Black Smoke White Lies” by pinup artist Tyson McAdoo. As stated by Gayla Partridge; “His ladies, teetering on impossibly high heels, seem as likely to screw you, as shoot you or cook you some bacon in nothing but an apron.” The show features some framed giclee prints that are limited to 1, and some sketches and studies in a variety of mediums. All of the work looks amazing, I like being able to see the drawings that goes into making some of his finished works. I hope adding these types of works to his shows becomes a habit.

  • “We’ll Be Right Back… After These Messages” @ Rivet Art

Freshly opened this August 1st at Rivet Art in Colombus, OH is a group show entitled “We’ll Be Right Back… After These Messages” . All the pieces from the show are inspired by cartoons from the 80’s and 90’s, which in my humble opinion had some truly amazing cartoons. There are some really excellent artists participating in the show, Andrew Bell, Charlie Owens, Daniel Elson (co-curated the show), Scott Campbell, Thom Glick, Shannon Bonatakis, CJ Metzger and more.

I was already becoming a huge fan of Scott Campbell’s work, then he goes and makes an amazing Thundarr the Barbarian inspired work “Feelin Super Similar”, perfect. I also really like Jason Limon’s “Ooze got the Snorks”. I was never a fan of that cartoon, but if it looked like what Jason has created I would have never missed an episode. Along with the original works, there is also a couple of prints to be had. Charlie Owens has a print of his piece, “Somewhere over the Rainbow” limited to 38. Chris Lee has “Mr. Villain’s Class of 1983″, which is 19″ x 13”, limited to 50 and can be framed or not.
