This past Friday, October 22nd, the highly anticipated solo show “Leeuwenhart” (Lion Heart) by Chris Berens was opened at Roq La Rue Gallery in Seattle. It’s been almost two years since his last solo exhibition, “Go West” took place at the gallery. These new works are more focused on nature, and include a new characters in this world he has created, Emma Leeuwenhart Berens, his new daughter. With every new show and painting, it’s still hard to believe that Chris uses only ink on photo paper to create these dreamy, photo-realistic works. Chloe Early and Amy Sol @ Corey Helford Gallery
Opening tonight, October 23rd, at the Corey Helford Gallery in Culver City is “Birdsong and Machine Sounds” by Chloe Early and “Dear Milky Way” by Amy Sol. This new series of paintings by Early is inspired by classical myth, and takes Adam and Eve on a journey through nature and a post-industrial world. There will also be a limited edition print available by Early based on the painting “Silver Tip Symphony” (shown first). The print is a 20.25″ x 27″ giclee, signed and numbered in an edition of 50.

EGo and Creeps show @ Flatcolor Gallery
A little late on this one, but there is still some time to catch these shows at Flatcolor Gallery in Seattle. EGO’s latest solo show “Eventually, You run out of tomorrows…”, and the Creeps group show featuring work by Larkin, Augie Pagan, Parksid, Chris Sheridan, Brian White, and Derek Noble. This is the perfect show to check out this October, and should be seen simply because the art is that amazing. Last year EGO had a solo show at the gallery and created some beautiful pieces, this show is a great followup.

Drew Millward has just restocked his online shop with original drawings. Most of them were designs made for posters, prints, and t-shirts and are on tracing paper. With some of the drawing you even get something free, like the poster the drawing was made for.

“Rapture Suit” by Robert Hardgrave
Robert Hardgrave will have a solo show this coming December at the David B Smith Gallery, but he was nice enough to send over a project he has been working on that will be in this new show. As stated by Robert: “Rapture Suit” is a project where leftovers from failed paintings were used to construct an all encompassing outfit. Unable to see where we are going, we can only view upwards into the unknown.” The entire suit looks to be made from pieces of acrylic on canvas painting, that have been reconstructed. It’s an amazing idea, as it not only saves the pieces of so-called “failed paintings” from being tossed or painted over, but turns the pieces into a new 3-dimensional work of art. I can only imagine how colorful this suit will be once the show is released.

“Redrum” print by Michele Boscagli
Disturbia Clothing just sent over news of a killer new print they released. Based on “The Shining”, this print by Michele Boscagli entitled “Redrum” is an 18″ x 24″ screenprint, signed and numbered in an edition of 50 for £17 ($27). This is definitely one of the most exciting prints I have seen made from this Kubrick classic.

New work by Ana Bagayan
Every day until her solo show at the FB69 Gallery in Germany, Ana Bagayan has been creating one new drawing that will be featured in the show. So far the drawings are all graphite portraits, some on the cream colored paper she often uses, and some on plain white paper. There is already some amazing work, a few of which are pretty dark and were perfect to show here for the Halloween month. If you are interested in any of the work, you can go over to the galleries website for price and purchase info. Even though she is working hard on these drawings and who know how many other projects, Ana still finds time to add some originals to her Etsy shop. Three tiny skull drawings, each one graphite and charcoal on cotton paper are currently for sale. Make sure you check out Ana’s blog to follow her progress.

New work by Tanya Pshenychny
Tanya Pshenychny has been working hard on a whole new batch of work since the last time she was featured on the site. Currently she is part of a two person show at the Galesburg Civic Art Center in Galesburg, IL. The show will be up until November 12th, but if you can’t make it to the show Tanya has added all of the work to her website. Out of the 35 pieces in the exhibition, 15 of them are new such as “Panic Attacked”, “Killed with Kindness”, and “Deerly Be-Livid” all shown below.
