  • aotd: “Chimaera and the Maiden”

    chimaera_and_the_maiden_by_larkin_art.jpg
Today’s piece comes from Joseph Larkin out of Columbus, OH.

If you head over to his homepage, you’ll see that he uses anything from acrylic, oil, mixed media, charcoal and ink. He has a huge gallery, filed with all sorts of imagery both dark and surreal. The piece above is one of his latest and caught my eye quickly, I love pencil work and this one is wonderful. Great figure drawing abilities, and the chimaera is great, very trippy. If you look close enough to the Chimaera, you’ll see why a big Naoto Hattori fan like myself would like this piece.

Make sure you check out his homepage and profile.

  • Two new MeatSpaider auctions

MeatSpider studios has two new auctions going on right now, a Cthulhu relic statue similar to the one that I first posted about, and a new one. A Cthulhu Tsathogghua Statue (above), and this thing looks very sweet indeed.

It’s around 8 inches tall and 5 inches wide, the color on this one is great. Have a look at the auctions and maybe pick yourself up one.

  • Luke Chueh Giclee prints

There is a pretty good amount of Luke Chueh prints on auction right now. As of now there are 3 of the Possessed 5 color screen prints that were released through Munky King. And there is also 1 “Locked” giclee print.

If your interested there is also a good amount of the “Possessed” vinyl toys for sale as well. Most of this is all very limited, so when its gone its gone, or until it comes back for sale on auction again.

  • aotd: “The Fall”

    The_Fall_by_annejulie.jpg
Todays piece of work comes from a children’s illustrator named Anne Julie, she is based out of France.

I love the striking contrast in this piece, and even though its all digital it has a great organic feel to it. I can imagine this artist has a great understanding of collage work, and painting even.

Have a look at her gallery for a huge amount of impressive work. I’m sure you’ll see her work at a bookstore soon.

  • aotd: “Necrosis”

    necrosis_by_relaxeder
Todays piece is by Matthew Bailey (relaxeder) and is entitled “Necrosis”. The piece is oil on canvas (with gauze and thread).

The main thing about this painting is the textures, wonderful when you look at the piece full view. A nice minimal splash of color with that rusty looking gauze ripping right through the middle of the painting. Looks to be some surgical equipment going on there, some visual elements leading to the idea of necrosis. It’s nice to see a piece that has so much texture also have a theme to it, something that is waiting for you to look into it and find out what is going on. I see way too many painting deal just with texture and no real message to it.

  • “Venus” show art now online

Roq la Rue Gallery now has the “Venus” show online for your viewing pleasure. There was a large amount of artists and just looking at the pieces that were shown, you know it was an amazing opening. A lot of the pieces have sold, but there are still a few of them left.

The pieces that I enjoyed the most were: Audrey Kawasaki’s “Amai Wana” (left), Glenn Barr’s ” The Cyprian of Cyprus”, Sarah Joncas’ “Coatlicue’s Prayer”, Lori Earley’s amazing graphite drawing, Lynne Naylor, Sarah Bereza, the acrylic and shell powder work of Fuco Ueda.

This show will continue on till July 7th, so if your in the area make sure you stop by. There is nothing quite like seeing the art in person.

  • “Palace of the Brine” Attaboy works

The solo Attaboy show at Rotofugi now has the works online for view, and also which pieces are for sale.

The show opened June 8th, so I’m not super quick on this one. However, these is still a lot of available work at the site.

My favorite piece from this series is shown above.
