I’m a little late on posting this one, and it’s from one of my favorite artists as well. This last October 28th at the 323 East Gallery in Michigan, Glenn Barr had some prints and originals up for viewing. All of the work that is in the show is now online to view; stationary, vinyl toys, prints, originals and an amazing bronze sculpture (shown) are all up for grabs. If your as big of a fan of Glenn’s work as I am, make sure you head on over and take a look.

Glenn Barr is going to have his first solo show in Detroit in the last seven years, it will take place this October 28th at the 323 East Gallery. There will be new works and from what I have read a huge amount of prints. The gallery has one of these new prints available in the shop right now. “Black Gold” is from a painting that he had in his Outre Gallery Show this past summer. The print is 12.5″ X 14.75″, signed and numbered in an edition of 35 for $65.

It’s been a year long in the making, and now the James Jean “Hint Mints” series is finally finished. Previous series featured such artists as Glenn Barr, Owen Smith, Gary Baseman and Shag. The mint tins should be ready for purchase soon, but for those that fancy prints instead James has added open editions of these illustrations in the Process Recess online shop. Each one of the prints is 17″ x 21″ on ultrasmooth art paper, signed and embossed for $85 each.
Glenn Barr has a new solo exhibition going on at the Outre Gallery in Australia. The show is entitled “Elsewhere” and features all new paintings and drawings, and even a few prints to be had. Three of the prints are the same as his online shop, so if your interested and in the US it will be far easier to snag these in his shop. The main print named after the show, “Elsewhere” (first) is an offset lithograph, 22″ x 16.5″, signed and numbered. It doesn’t say what the edition is though.
The rest of the show looks amazing, it helps that I am a huge fan of Glenn’s work, but I imagine this new show will gain him even more fans. I have a few images from the show here, for the rest head on over to the galleries site.

Each one of these new prints is limited to an edition of 200 and are only $30 a pop, making these some of his most affordable prints yet. NOTE: the top two are images of the actual paintings, not prints.

This past weekend the “Draw” exhibition opened at the Shooting Gallery in SF. The show was curated by Erik Foss and Curse Mackey, and contained no less than 360 works of art. It was intense to see that much work dominating the wall space in the gallery. That coupled with the horde of people that stormed into the gallery right when the show started, it was almost too much to handle. They had a pamphlet that had all the works of art listed so it was just a matter or matching up the numbers. I found out about so many new artists, and saw work from some all time favorites like Glenn Barr, Shawn Barber (Shown), Van Arno, Kevin llewellyn, Jonathan Weiner and even from some unexpected ones like Gibby Haynes, David Byrne, HR Giger and Jonathan Levine.
