  • Artist Profiles: Vacon Sartirani

Vacon Sartirani is an artist based out of Milano, Italy. His works are brought to life in a variety of mediums, markers and colored pencils are just a couple. The first thing you notice is how insanely colorful his work is, then you see the figures that inhabit this world he has created. They may be political figures, pop culture icons or simply unrecognizable, but each one seems to be mutating into some kind of blend of human and sea anemone. In a way it reminds me of a few scenes from the 1995 movie “Lord of Illusions”, where the main character tries to show you the reality of people and what you see is these underwater life forms spilling out.
Vacon’s work is not only colorful, filled with humor and pop culture references, but it also freaks me right out.

Make sure you head over to his homepage to see more work, and stop by his Etsy page and see what he has available.

  • “Ms. V” print by Lori Earley

Coming from her latest solo show, “Laments and Lullabies” at the Opera Gallery (see the show here), is a print based on one the amazing paintings that Lori had in the exhibition. “Ms. V” is 24″ x 36″ giclee on paper, signed and numbered in an edition of 50. The original painting was oil on board and was 24″ x 36″, so the print is pretty much the same size provided there is a white border or not. • “Phantom of the Opera” print at Mondotees

Mondotees has just released a couple of new prints. The one that I am featuring is this amazing Phantom of the Opera print by Martin Ansin, who previously made the now sold out Metropolis print. Here is what the artist had to say about the print:
“”The color scheme refers to the early two-color form of Technicolor used in the “Bal Masqué” sequence of the film, where the Phantom presents himself in the guise of the ‘Red Death’.”
The color scheme is great, not as intense as some of the other posters you will find in the shop, but very classy and fits the movie well. The print is a 24″ x 26″ screen print, signed and numbered in an edition of 75 for $30. Limit 2 per person.
