On March 12th, Stella Im Hultberg’s latest solo show “Fragmented” (previewed), opened alongside Scott Belcastro’s new series of works “I Dare the Sky” at the London Miles Gallery. Stella’s new work looks amazing. It;s a good mix of her tea-stained paper drawings, acrylic and colored pencil works, and one painting that she used oils with even though she has moved over to water based media. The new style of hair she is drawing really looks fantastic. Even though Stella has less work in this show than Scott Belcastro does, I found myself spending more time looking at her work, it just feels like a stronger series. Gallery Nucleus will host “Terrible Yellow Eyes”, a group show with work inspired by Maurice Sendak’s “Where the Wild Things Are”.

Therabbitholegallery.com“Maritime and Mythology” by Evan B Harris and the “Gifted” group show both open at the Cersoli-Lebasse Gallery. “Gifted” features work by Tessar Lo, Eric Fortune, Scott Belcastro, Melissa Haslam, Ken Garduno, Nimit Malavia, Tom Haubrick, Jeremiah Ketner and more. So much of the work in this is striking, that Eric Fortune “A Wish for the Mourning” is beautiful.

Looks like its going to be another one of those weekends that is just filled with great shows opening up.
Here we go, these are the ones that are online for your viewing pleasure:“Imaginary Friends”, a group show featuring work by Andrew Bell, Cherri Wood, Israel Sanchez, Ken Garduno, Scott Campbell & Yoskay Yomamoto at the Gallery 1988 SF is now up. “Destination Unknown” opened up and Distinction Art, and features work by Sarah Joncas, Angelina Wrona & Patrick Fatica. It’s a good looking show, as all the work by the three artists flows together nicely. It’s very cohesive. Check it out here: Distinction Art
“The Drawing Room” a show curated by Audrey Kawasaki opened Friday at Thinkspace. There is also work by Timothy Karpinski & Robert Pokorny in the project room. I think the Drawing Room show looks great, it’s nice to be able to see some graphite work from Travis Louie (shown), as well as Audrey (shown). I hope he puts more of that kind of work in some shows. The Copro Nason Gallery has work by Tin, Sas Christian & Kukula for you to gawk at. Tin is getting popular very fast, no works are left to purchase. “I am 8 Bit” exclusive prints now at A Paper Tiger
A Paper Tiger will be the exclusive spot to get prints from the 4th year of the “I Am 8 Bit” show. The show had the biggest turn out yet, and there was amazing work there.
The first two prints that will be released by A Paper Tiger are from Scott Campbell and Scott Belcastro. The piece by Scott Belcastro was hands down my favorite of the night, it helps that I am a huge Legend of Zelda fan. Scott Campbell is doing his “Showdown” works again, and the first print will be the first series of them including showdowns of Frogger, Tetris, Mario & Donkey Kong and so on. The Scott Campbell prints are a set of 5, 5″ x 3″ mini prints limited to 30. The Scott Belcastro print is 12″ x 12″ and is limited to 50. “I Am 8 Bit” at World of Wonder on August 14th
Tonight is the night that the latest “I am 8 Bit” show opens up. This time the show is at the World of Wonder Storefront Gallery. I took a look at the site, but no work there yet and not sure where they are going to put it.
There is a killer list of artists in the show, some great new ones and one that are veterans of the 8 bit art show. Here is the lineup: Joe Ledbetter, Scott C., Jim Mahfood, Ashley Wood, Amanda Visell, Jose Emroca Flores, Luke Chueh, Bigfoot, Yoskay Yamamoto, Kofie One, Angry Woebots, Gerald de Jesus, Tessar Lo, Gabe Swarr, Jorge R. Gutierrez, Carlos Ramos, Joe Vaux, Joe Shea, Benjamin Marra, Deseo, Mr. Jago, Jude Buffum, Michelle Valigura, Suckadelic, DGPH, Jim Stoten, Tanner Goldbeck, Scott Belcastro, Tony Mora, Nate Frizzell, Elizabeth Ito, ZOSO, The Chung, Ray Frenden, and David Goldberg.
There are already some pics from the show circulating around, and the work by Scott Belcastro (shown) has to be my favorite so far. The colors and layout and amazing, and it really fits the whole Legend of Zelda theme perfectly, kind of like Scott should have always been the designer for the game. I heard there will be prints of these as well, at least I really hope so.
