Sarachmet

Artist’s Statement:
Malgorzata Maj, also known as „ Sarachmet „, is a photographer and illustrator born and living in Poland. Before she got interested and developed her present techniques, she graduated the Warmia Mazury University in Olsztyn, Poland, with the title of the master of fine arts, specializing in painting on silk, and she also studied the phenomena of representation of a woman in Pre-Raphaelite art.-a topic that was continued in her works and is still remarkable in her art. Fascinated by ancient mythologies, mysticism and the classics of literature ( Shakespeare, Dante, yeats, baudelaire, Poe ) she’s developed two main fields of her artistic activity, while formally her art ’s based on photography and mixed media as well as photomanipulatio techniques. Her works have already been exhibited at shows in Poland and United States and in artistc magazines such as „ The Dirty Goat „ or „ Fotomat „ Sarachmet’s works have also been used for book and music covers by Bitter Oleander Press, Host Publications, Fantasmagoricon, Wydawnictwo Portal and many other.
