Review: The Blab! Show @ Roq La Rue Gallery

On August 12th Roq La Rue in Seattle, WA opened the latest Blab! Show group invitational, with a specific theme of the Krampus as inspiration. For those not familiar with the Krampus, he is a pre-christian demon like creature that accompanied St Nick during Christmas and punished the bad children. The exhibition features work by Ryan Heshka, Nicoletta Ceccoli, Erik Mark Sandberg, Yoko d’Holbachie, Travis Louie, Travis Lampe, Martin Wittfooth, Ana Bagayan, Owen Smith, Chris Buzelli, Shag, Brian Despain, Mark Garro, Marc Burkhardt, Laurie Hogin, Andy Kehoe, Derek Nobbs, Alex Kuno, Andrew S. Arconi, Julianna Swaney, Jason Holley, and Fred Stonehouse. The folks over at Loved To Death, made their way from San Francisco to Seattle to check out the show. Andy Kehoe’s latest solo show “Strange Wanderings” will is still on view at the Jonathan Levine Gallery, and will be up until April 2nd. It’s an amazing show, and luckily for all the fans out there Andy has made a few of the paintings from this show into prints available from his Etsy shop. Preview: “The Next Generation” @ the London Miles Gallery

Opening this Friday, June 11th at the London Miles Gallery is a group show curated by Andrew Hosner (Thinkspace) entitled “The Next Generation: A New Chapter in Contemporary Art.” The show will feature work by many of the rising stars in what is being called the New Contemporary Movement. All of the works from the show are 12″ x 12″, and just a few names found in this show are: Aaron Nagel, Allison Sommers, Amy Sol, Andy Kehoe, Audrey Kawasaki, Caia Koopman, Chris Murray, Dave MacDowell, Kelly Vivanco, Linnea Strid, Mari Inukai, Sarah Joncas, Stella Im Hultberg, Nathan DeYoung and many more. The full show should be online this coming weekend, and for those fans that can see the show in person it will run until July 4th.

Preview: “A Cry For Help” Benefit Show @Thinkspace Gallery

Thinkspace Gallery will open “A Cry For Help” benefit show this coming Friday, January 8th. The show is presented by Born Free USA, whom along with the Animal Protection Institute helped Thinkspace with the “Fight For Flight” exhibition back in 2008. The theme for this years show is animals, endangered as well as thriving species, and supporting the ethical treatment of animals and making sure current and future generations understand about habitat loss and how important animals are for all of us.

20% of the proceeds of the sales will go to Born Free and A.P.I, as well as 100% of the proceeds from the limited editions that will be released the night of the reception. A great cause with some amazing art. What a perfect way to start out 2010. The list of participating artists is nothing short of spectacular. Paintings from such artists as Allison Sommers, Amy Sol, Andrew Hem, Andy Kehoe, Buff Monster, Catherine Brooks (Featured), Charlie Immer, Chet Zar (Interviewed, 2), Dan May, David MacDowell, Fred Harper, Heiko Müller, Jennybird Alcantara, Joao Ruas, Kelly Vivanco (Interviewed), Luke Kopycinski (Featured), Martin Wittfooth, Nimit Malavia, Rory Kurtz, Sarah Joncas (Interviewed), Scott G. Brooks, Tran Nguyen, Travis Louie, Van Arno and many more will be on view. If you are in the area there is no reason to miss this show, there is just too much good work to pass up seeing it all in person. New prints from Andy Kehoe

Thanks to omgposters.com for the heads up on this one, I know they’re big fans of Andy’s work. The two new prints Andy added to his Etsy shop are “March of the Exiled”, which is 18″ x 27″ in an edition of 30 for $125. Next up is “The Wandering of the Wicked”. It’s a hefty 20″ x 20″ print in an edition of 50 and is $130. I’m glad Andy has been releasing larger prints for such an affordable price.

Andy Kehoe has added some new prints to his Etsy shop. This time the prints are quite larger than he usually sells, each one is 22″ x 22″. Entitled “Old Enemies Reconcile Unseen” and “Beacons for Wayward Souls”, each print is limited to an edition of 50 for $135 a pop.

Shows this weekend: Josh Keyes, Bob Dob & The Blab! Show

Here is the rundown of art shows that will be opening up this weekend.

Friday:
Swarm Gallery will host an exhibition of new works by Josh Keyes.

Perihilion Arts will open “Black Eyed Mouseketeers”, a new series of paintings by Bob Dob. The show is online and looks great.

Cave Gallery will open “Outside my Window”, a group show featuring art by Liz Brizzi, Adam Flores, Max Kauffman and more.

La Luz de Jesus is opening its four shows, as mentioned in an earlier post, with new art from Scott Holloway, Jessica Dalva, Misato Otake & Jasmine Worth.

Varnish Art will be having its last show at the current location, and will end it all with a new solo show entitled “ThankYouGoodbye” with works from Michael Page.

Strychnin Gallery will host “The Red Thread”, which features work by Jennybird Alcantra, Bethany Marchman and Edith Lebeau, who was a featured artist on the Creep Machine. Congrats Edith!

Saturday:

Andy Kehoe has just added 5 new prints to his Etsy shop. All of the prints are on printed on Hahnemuhle Photo Rag 308gsm paper, and limited to editions of 50. The print shown, “Desolation Afflicts the Greedy-Hearted” is 12″ x 15″ w/ 1/2″ white border for $65. I love the blue against the ochre and sienna colors he used.
