Naoto Hattori original for sale, “Krampus”

naoto_lg.gifThis painting was featured in the “Krampus and Christmas” show at the Copro Nason Gallery a while back. There were a lot of really great paintings at the show, this being one of my favorites.

The seller stated that Naoto pieces are usually all sold out. Now many times sellers say this and it isn’t true, especially about prints. But in this case it is true, I can’t think of many times I see his work sold by the original buyers.

Naoto has a crazy style, his work is always a blast to look at and never gets old.
You can see more of his work here: Naoto Hattori Homepage

Lithium Picnic Limited poster sized photo

apnea.jpgTo help with the growing cost of the ridiculous lawsuit against Philip Warner by the “saints” over at Suicide Girls, Philip is offering up some killer limited edition poster sized prints.

These prints are not signed or numbered, but are limited to 100 and are a huge 20″x30″. There will be a new one coming out every month while the trial goes on, let’s hope that isn’t long. The print shown is the first one to be sold so head on over if you want to pick one up.

If your like me and have limited wall space left, you can also head over and pick up one of his smaller photo prints. The prints are either 9″x12″ or 11″x14″ and you have a huge variety to choose from.

Amy Sol original plus variety of prints

There is an Amy Sol original painting for sale. I like the idea that the seller gives provenance of the painting. Showing us where it was bought. More art sellers on auction sites should do this.

Along with the Amy Sol original there is a Stella Im Hultberg original, an Amy Sol print, a David Choe print and the “Smitten” show print set. This set includes prints by Amy Sol, Stella Im Hultberg, Audrey Kawasaki, Brandy Milne and Kukula.

All of these from the same seller, not a bad haul really. Head on over and take a look.

Letter Pressed’s New Artists Series Store

terror_thumb.jpgThe very cool Letter Pressed has now opened an artist’s series store. They have released some very cool artist series letter press prints in the past, such as the Brian “Candykiller” Taylor prints.

Now they have a whole new section dedicated to artist series prints. So far they have one by Travis Lampe, Michael Sieben and one final print left of Candykillers “Unspeakable Terror” print (shown). There will be some more prints from Candykiller, but this one is very smooth and only one person has the chance to grab it.

Either way keep an eye on this site, I imagine there will be some very killer prints coming from this shop.

Faesthetic #7

tim_biskup_cover.gifI might be a little bit late on this, but it’s something cool to hear anyway. Faesthetic is an art book that is distributed by Threadless.
There have been some really great artists, and it looks like this issue is filled with a number of exciting artists such as: Derek Ballard, Travis Millard, Munk One, Ruben Rude, Jon Burgerman, Nate Van Dyke, Benjamin Kehoe, Sauerkids & many more. The theme of this issue is “Doomsday”, and it says it’s all ad free. The cover (shown) was done by Tim Biskup.

The book is 160 pages of two color art, black and red ink, and you can grab it for $25. I think I might pick one up, although I do love looking through the whole mag and seeing exactly whats inside. Hard to keep collecting these things when they take up so much space.

“Little Screams” by Amy Kligman

bf_xlarge_aklig001.jpgThe holidays are now fully over and Blueflip Art is back in action. This new monday limited print is from Amy Kligman and is called “Little Screams”. It’s 8″x8″ and a portion of the sale goes to the Smile Train.

I really dig this piece, it has some great elements. The background is cool, and I like that she made this crazy pattern for the “scream” area. Oh and I love bunnies. Even onces that look all sketchy like the ones right next to her.

Audrey Kawasaki & Amy Sol originals

a_03___oasobi___8x11.jpgOriginal paintings by Audrey Kawasaki or Amy Sol don’t pop up that often. When they do it’s always cool to get a look at them, affording them is another thing but one can window shop.

The painting shown is the Audrey Kawasaki piece, it’s called Oasobi and was painted in 2006. It’s oil on wood 8″ x11″. I really dig this piece, it has a perfect example of her stylized figures in it. The background isn’t as colorful as they are now but the figures more than make up for it.

The Amy Sol piece is great as well, I just wish the picture of it was better. Head on over to check them out. Amy Sol & Audrey Kawasaki originals

New print from Ashley Wood, “Bamba Family”

ashleywood_family.jpg
Ashley Wood has released another print, well poster really but the quality is way better than a poster should be.

They are size a2 (16.5 x 23.4 in) matte varnish on 200GSM silk paper. Each print is also signed by the artist. I previously bought his other poster print, and I was not disappointed. For the very cheap price of $10 + shipping, this is a steal. You could have it framed up cheap, and not even spend more than $50 for the whole package.

You can get both his prints so far on Bambaland

Andrew Bell “Virus Clusters” drawings

art_p_cluster1.jpg
These are from the “Progress” show that was a collaboration between Andrew Bell (Creatures in My head) and Sam Brown (exploding dog). The show was held at Wax Poetic in Burbank, CA.

The drawings are all 5″x7″ and are ink, acrylic and pigment on paper. There are 6 of them, and each one is framed and ready to go. They look great, each one is different so it’s kind of hard to choose which one is the best. So many different facial expressions on those little virii. I do wish that were a little bigger, but not all art can be poster size. It would be cool if he made prints of them, or maybe even a Gelaskin.

Best Art Prints of 2007

My latest article for SFweekly is now online. It goes back though all the prints that I have written about in the past 6 or 7 months and rounds up the most exciting prints.

There was far more prints I enjoyed than just the ten that I show, but I was stuck with ten. There was also a lot of prints that I know that I have missed, hopefully I will catch more this next year, and hopefully more artists will get a hold of me to let me know they have some prints for sale.

Here is the article, I hope you enjoy it.

“Hans Memling” print ready to go, & SF Fetish Ball

I talked about this print a bit ago, and now it is on the site and ready to go. I can imagine people seeing it on the site will really get them buying it up now. Scroll down the page a bit and you can see the details of this killer print.

It also looks as though those of use living in the Bay Area, or want to make the trip, can head on over to the SF Fetish Ball and see some of Michael’s work in person. March 6th through the 9th you can see his work, as well as the photography of Philip Warner (Lithium Picnic) in person. Sounds like a great reason to go to the event.

Here is the link to order the Hans Memling print, I wouldn’t wait in this one, or else you’ll be searching eBay like mad. BirdBath Publishing

Attaboy drawings for sale

sketch5.jpg
If your still looking for for xmas presents, or maybe even just want to treat yourself, Attaboy has some originals drawings for sale.

Head over to the link to check out em out. There is 5 of them left, and they all seem to be on Arches Watercolor paper with torn edges. Hit up the e-mail supplied to order one of them.
The prices are very reasonable as well, especially for the size that the pieces are. One of them is already gone, I don’t imagine they will all last that long.
