Today’s piece is from David Macdowell. He made a banner for the Creep Machine a while back, and was one of the reader artists over on Juxtapoz. He is getting quite alot of attention lately, and will have a show coming soon to the Thinkspace Gallery in 2009.
I like how filled his paintings are, one of my art professors constantly says that each square inch of a painting should be interesting on it’s own, and I think David’s fits that bill. This piece in particular is very busy, but not to the point that it’s too much to handle. It’s comical, surreal and trips me right out. For being so busy it’s very balanced, and fits great. I love the look on the figures face. I’m really looking forward to more work from this artist. Make you sure you check out his homepage, and stay tune for some shows. Hopefully some prints as well.
