Recharged

Well, the weekend helped to recharge me and let me take some to time to see what I’m doing, and going to do with the website.
I’ll try to keep going with it as long as I can. It’s just quite frustrating sometimes when the hits on the site don’t jump up very much. I’ve made sure the site is free from ads, and hopefully just a great place to check out. So please add a link here and there, and any artists that I show please do the same.

Anyway, my buddies wedding this weekend was great. As the groomsman and groom walked up to the stage, the 4 piece quartet was playing the Legend of Zelda theme song. Nerdy, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. It was also an open bar, so I’ll have to wait for pics to see what I ended up doing that evening.

Tomorrows going to be a new prints article for the SFWeekly site. It should be up bright and early. There are so any amazing prints coming out, so i’ll showcase some on the SFWeekly site, and of course some here.

The Creep needs your help

I’ll be taking the weekend off, a wedding and some time to work on my own art.

In the meantime I just wanted to ask, if anyone can help spread the word about the Creep Machine. I’ve tried to make sure that this site is a place to learn about new artists, find some cool prints, and do it all without ads. Not even ads related to art. Many of the art blogs I see on the net still have ads. I plan to never use them, but I need your help.

The Creep has hopefully exposed some new art/artists to people, as well as connect some artists to some galleries, but I need some help when it comes to letting people know about the site. All it takes is a link. That’s the beauty of the web, being able to connect to all sorts of people, one person at a time. This can’t happen however, if no one helps to keep the link going.

So, if you haven’t done so, please think about adding a link to your, homepage, blog, myspace profile, etc. I also have banners here that you can use. And if you want to make a banner, send it to me and I’ll add it to the list with your credits.

I’m looking forward to keeping this site online as long as possible, but it will be quite difficult if it can’t grow and draw new readers and artists.

thanks, have a great weekend

aotd: “Yesterday”

yesterday_brotherton.jpg
It’s been way too long since I have shown some photography. So here is a photo from Ohio based photographer, Jeremy Brotherton.

He is quite an amazing photographer. One of the things I love about looking through his gallery, is he only shows his best. Ive never seen a photo from him that was worth skipping. His is consistent in what he does, has a great eye and is versatile. He works in digital as well as film, and knows how to use photoshop, without making it obvious in his photos.

This specific photo is the one that got me hooked on his work, I love how ghostly and worn the photo is. It makes you ask so many questions. How old is this image? Who is that girl, and where is she?

Make sure you click the link and check out the rest of his work. He also has prints for sale.

Mari Inukai Solo Show at Nucleus Gallery

mari_solo_flyer_front_370.jpg
Opening up on November 17th at the Nucleus Gallery in Alhambra,Ca is a solo show from Mari Inukai.

I’m getting really hooked on her, and this show looks like it’s going to be great. She has a perfect brushy style, similar to what draws me to Glenn Barr and David Choe. Nothing like some energetic, textured work.

aotd: “Inner Worlds”

inner_worlds_by_benjelter.jpg
Today’s piece is from illustrator, Ben Jelter. He does concept and character design, and has a very crazy imagination.

It was hard to pick a piece from his gallery, but I liked how this one kind of fools you. At first look, it’s like a normal everyday scene, then you look closer and see what’s really going on. Like it’s no big thing, that girl is feeding worms(?) to some crazy figure with a mouth/butt. Excellent, I love work that gets my imagination going. You really need to head over and see the rest of Ben’s work. He has some amazing illustrations.

“Twins” by Daniel Lim, BlueFlips monday limited print

bf_xlarge_dlim007.jpgThere is another limited edition print available from BlueFlip Art. It’s from Daniel Lim (Fawn Fruits), and is a very smooth piece indeed.

It’s called “Twins”, and you can see that its not a part of his 1000 for $100 series, but still shows that amazing style that he has. I love the feel that the piece has, the whole city being this muted sepia tone, and the kids so bright and colorful. It’s limited to only 30 prints, come with a certificate of authenticity, and once again you might be able to add the coupon “FREESHIP1007″ at checkout to get a discount on domestic shipping.

Soto & Hussar Originals

hussar_sin.JPGEvery once is a while some really cool originals get put up for sale. Maybe people are tired of the work, or maybe times are tough. The could be selling the work because it was bought to make profit. Doesn’t matter really, it’s a great chance to score some work that otherwise would just have stayed in someones home forever.

The first one is a piece from Michael Hussar. It’s called “Sin”, and was purchased from the Mendenhall Sobieski Gallery. He had a show back in 2006 at that gallery. It’s a killer looking piece, most of the eye paintings that I have seen him do however use different frames, but this one fits well. “Sin”

soto.JPGThe second one that I found was from Jeff Soto. The piece is called “Philadelphia Bat”, it’s custom framed and the seller says it was bought from the Jonathan Levine Gallery. It’s a great looking piece, not quite as intense as his latest work, but still has that style of his. Philidelphia Bat

Remember, always feel free to contact the seller and ask questions. Your buying an expensive piece, and you have the right to know all about where it came from and how its been treated and so on.

aotd: “Paradox”

paradox_by_god_of_insects.jpg
I’ve always loved looking at sketchbooks. It gives you a great insight into how the artist works, and thinks. There are also so many different ways one may treat their sketchbook. Real messy little doodles, or even little paintings, like the one shown here. The artists name, is unknown to me as of yet, but she goes by the screen name “god of insects”.

For a sketchbook entry, this is great. I love the color scheme, and very energetic brush strokes. This has all the qualities of being a quick loose sketch, while also being a finished piece. Looking through her gallery, I can really see that she has some great tool at hand. I’ll definitely be posting some more of her work. If you would like to see more, head on over.

“Cthulhu” statue by MeatSpider

cthulhu_51sbdone.jpg
I’ve posted the work of MeatSpider before, he makes some of the coolest H.P. Lovecraft statues around. This one for sale is one of the biggest I have seen from him yet.

It’s of Cthulhu and is “a massive 11.5 inches tall and 6.5 inches wide at the widest part”. It’s hand sculpted and painted, so you know each piece is one of a kind. There isn’t much longer for this piece, so head on over. If you miss it, e-mail the artist and maybe commission a piece.
