“Beyond the Boundaries” – Jason Hernandez @ Sacred Gallery
Opening this Saturday, June 4th at the Sacred Gallery in New York is a new solo exhibition from California based artist Jason Hernandez. This new body of work is entitled “Beyond the Boundaries” and as Jason states in the press release “demonstrates my fascination with mankind and the world of theoretical physics. I believe man has always been a curious creature. That curiosity has lead man to the furthest & darkest corners of the earth. We’ve made Earth our home, and in it we’ve shared our philosophies and sciences.” As with the previous work Jason has released, these new paintings and drawings have a very unique and mystical feel to them. A few the paintings are presented as small altar pieces, and go perfectly with his classical style of painting, of course with a modern spin to it. If you are in the area make sure to stop by, the show will be on view until June 30th.

Introducing Paper Devil Press & Exit 11 by John Cebollero
I am happy to introduce the latest project from the Creep Machine. Paper Devil Press is a new print shop that will feature exclusive limited edition prints, original works of art, and in the future open edition prints and zines. The goal of Paper Devil is to bring amazing artwork to the fans at prices that allow everyone to collect great art. It is also my goal to make mush of the art and prints you see at the shop unique, and unlike many art shops online.
The very first Exclusive limited edition print is by John Cebollero and is entitled “Exit 11″. This print is from a painting that was seen in the “This is the End” group show, and was also the image used for the subscriber edition of Juxtapoz Magazine in 2009. The print is 8 1/4″ x 10″ giclee on 100% cotton rag paper, signed and numbered in an edition of 20 + 5 Artist Proofs. The detail and colors on this print are intense. I will be giving away one of these artists proofs this week over at the Paper Devil Facebook group, so make sure you “like” the new group for a chance to win. Otherwise head on over to the new print site and see what is there. Originals by Dan Harding, and prints by Chris Peters and Martin Wittfooth.
Kent Williams & Chris Anthony @ Merry Karnowsky Gallery
On May 21st the Merry Karnowsky Gallery in Los Angeles opened two very exciting solo shows, one by photographer Chris Anthony and the other by Kent Williams. This latest show by Chris Anthony is entitled “A Captured Species” and features 11 new C-prints (Chromogenic Color Prints). The dreamy, sublime feel that Anthony’s photographs are known for continue in this new series. Kent Williams brings 15 new paintings and drawings in a show entitled “Convergence”. I have always been a fan of the brushy, impasto style in his paintings as well as his energetic drawings. Check out the full show over at the galleries site, and for some closer images you can head over to Kent Williams homepage for a gallery of this new work.
For those interested in a print of Kent Williams works, “Blond Natalia in Studio Arrangement” (shown second) is available as a 24″ x 30″ print, signed and numbered in an edition of 10. Available Here

Kris Lewis @ David B Smith Gallery
On Friday, May 20th, the David B Smith Gallery in Denver, Colorado opened the latest solo show by Kris Lewis. This new show features 12 new paintings by this contemporary master. Lewis has a style of paintings that is very reminiscent of Mannerist painters from the late 1500′s. While those painters chose to distort and manipulate the figures and the scenes they occupied to a great extent, Lewis’ figures and paintings contain subtle distortions, so that the viewer would be drawn in not only by the emotion but by the feeling of something slightly odd about the works. He achieves this with perfect consistency, and never ceases to amaze with every new painting released. Take a look at the preview images here, and then over to the galleries homepage for the full show.
