The Beastie Boys theme art show “Under the Influence” opens at the Gallery 1988 in LA tonight. The show features a whole mess of artists creating art inspired by the band. The show is now online to view, or order art if you wish. Along with original art there is also a good amount of limited edition prints made for the show.
There are some really great artists in the show such as: Ken Garduno, Tom Haubrick, Matt Dangler, Aaron Jasinksi, Andrew Hem, Michael Page, Alex Pardee and the three shown below, Dave Macdowell, Casey Weldon and Chris Murray. Dave’s painting is of course amazing as usual, the colors and textures in Chris’s and Casey’s Biz Markie with the Ted Nugent shirt and energy beam shooting mouth is too much.

Ron English and Alex Pardee at Fifty24 SF
Tonight at Fifty24 in San Francisco, Ron English’s solo show “Mythographic Vicissitudes” opens in the lower level of the gallery, and Alex Pardee’s “Letters From Digested Children” opens on the upper level of the gallery. Both are amazing artists and being able to see both shows in the same gallery is too good to be true.
Arrested Motion has a preview of Ron English’s show Here. Io9.com has a preview of Alex’s show, and it looks like it’s going to be killer. I love the idea of the video installation that he has in the show, I wish this was seen in more shows. Check it out Here
I’ll be seeing the show in Saturday and will no doubt have many pics to share. For now head over to Fifty24sf.com
15% off everything at Gallery 1988 SF this Thursday
This Thursday, December 18, you can head on over to the online store of Gallery 1988 San Francisco and get 15% off anything you buy. Also your order will arrive before Christmas if you are in the US. Thats a pretty killer deal, and would be great if one wanted to snag up the new mini print set by Greg “Craola” Simkins. 30 of the sets contain an original drawing by Craola. How cool would that be to get the 15% off and a drawing?
Daniel Martin Diaz and Morgan Slade @ BSFA
Two more great shows opening up this Saturday night are taking place at Billy Shire Fine Arts. In gallery I is “Anatomy of Sorrow” featuring new works by Daniel Martin Diaz. Then in gallery II is a handful of works by Morgan Slade.
Both shows look great, I really like the playful works of Morgan. Mixed media works can sometimes be too much to look at, but if done right as seen here, they can look amazing. Daniel Martin Diaz’s new work is also great. A good amount of the show has sold. Head on over and take a look at both shows.

“Imaginary Friends”, a group show featuring work by Andrew Bell, Cherri Wood, Israel Sanchez, Ken Garduno, Scott Campbell & Yoskay Yomamoto at the Gallery 1988 SF is now up. The work looks amazing, and I am especially drawn to the pieces that Ken Garduno (shown) and Andrew Bell submitted. Check it out: Gallery 1988 SF
“Destination Unknown” opened up and Distinction Art, and features work by Sarah Joncas, Angelina Wrona & Patrick Fatica. It’s a good looking show, as all the work by the three artists flows together nicely. It’s very cohesive. Check it out here: Distinction Art
“The Drawing Room” a show curated by Audrey Kawasaki opened Friday at Thinkspace. There is also work by Timothy Karpinski & Robert Pokorny in the project room. I think the Drawing Room show looks great, it’s nice to be able to see some graphite work from Travis Louie (shown), as well as Audrey (shown). I hope he puts more of that kind of work in some shows. Thinkspace Gallery
At the Cerasoli-Lebasse Gallery, you have two shows that opened up. Jill Simonson & Scott Belcastro, as well as “Put on a Happy Face” by Nate Frizzell. All the work here looks excellent, check it out: Cerasoli-Lebasse Gallery
