“How they Fly Away So Easily”, print by Tara McPherson

flysoeasy_taramcpherson.jpg
Tara McPherson has a new giclee available of her oil painting, “How They Fly Away So Easily”. The painting was first shown at her solo show “Lost Constellations” at the Jonathan Levine Gallery this past February. The original sold at the show, but now we can pick up one of the prints of this killer painting.

The print is 18″ x 24″ giclee on Somerset Velvet Paper, coated with UV varnish and limited to 100. And of course, it’s signed and numbered. This is a really great print, I love the colors and the layout. She uses some really eye catching colors in her work, but are often too “bright” for me, this one however is just right.

Head on over to her site if you want to pick one up: How They Fly Away So Easily Print for Sale

aotd: “Same as it ever was” by Jason Rudolphpena

same_jasonrudolphpena.jpg
After this week finishes, I’m going to get back to posting some of the art that is sent to me daily. For now though we have another artist that has work in the B Movie show, Jason Rudolphpena.

Jason has a really killer style, and like Michael Shapcott he also makes videos showing his painting process. I really wish more artists did this, but we have Jason and sites like SketchTheatre to share with us the process of making these works.

Jason’s painting for the show is a portrait of Schlitzie (Simon Metz), a Sideshow performer that is most known for his role in the 1923 film “Freaks”. The color scheme is identical the piece featured here. You can actually purchase the painting above at the Crybaby Gallery in New Jersey, and of course see the b Movie painting at the show and in the Creep Store.

Head on over to Jason’s site to see some of the videos he has made, and all of the work he has done, and if you look around his site you’ll actually be able to see the Schlitzie piece.

aotd: “Raven Man” by R.M. Hanson

ravenman.jpg
This is the week that the B Movie show is going on, so for art of the day we have another artist that is in the show. This piece is from R.M. Hanson, an artist out of Minnesota.

This is his first gallery show and I’m really excited to have his work in it. The painting he submitted is amazing, it’s one of the works that I am going to try to get some prints made as I’m pretty sure a good majority of people will want a copy of this one. His whole gallery is great looking and I can’t wait to see all the new work he comes out with in the next year.

Head on over to his homepage and check out his gallery, and make sure you get to the Reception this Friday to see his painting in person. It’s well worth it.

Michael Shapcott has a new homepage

Michael Shapcott, whom I interviewed just a while ago, has a new homepage.

Previously you had to either visit his Myspace or Talentdatabase profile. His site is designed in flash, and for those that have read my “Best Ways to Show your art on the web” article, you know I’m not the biggest fan of flash. Michael’s site however is one of the first times I have ever enjoyed looking at a flash site.

It’s clean, it loads fast and is just easy to maneuver around in. The gallery of works is also one of the better gallery sections I have seen. It loads super quick, and is just a really great example of how you should do a flash site.

Head on over and take a look: Michael Shapcott Homepage

Update on B Movie Show

Well, there is a slight update on the B Movie show. It looks as though the gallery will be closed Monday and Tuesday. I apologize for anyone who was going to come out on one of those two nights. I will actually be hanging the art on one of those nights now.

The show itself is not very long, but I guarantee it will be filled with some truly amazing art and the reception on Friday the 18th will be quite a blast. I’m going to launch the Creep store on Monday night, so you will be able to see the art in the show and also purchase some of it if you wish. I decided to do this as the show is quite short. After building the store, I realized that there is roughly 60 pieces of art for this show! That’s insane, that is a huge amount of art for this show, but every single piece is exciting and I’m super happy to have them all.

So please, make sure if you go to the show, make it there on Friday. That is the best night to go.

See you there.

Monster mini paintings by Dienzo for sale

george_dienzo.jpgL.A. based artist Dienzo has been working on a new series of paintings called “Monster Mini’s”. Each one of these little paintings are 6″ x 6″, acrylic on canvas.

So far he has done: “Wolfgang”, “Julian”, “Dolores”, “Mumford” & “George” (shown), and you can see that these six are based on the classic horror monsters that have inspired so many people. I think these little paintings are amazing, they have a great feel to them and Dienzo’s style of painting is really catchy. They’re also pretty affordable so don’t hesitate.

Dienzo also has a killer painting that will be in the B Movie show, it’s huge and really exciting. So if you cant make it to reception this coming Friday the 18th, you can see the work online this Monday.

aotd: “Gatecrasher” by John Cebollero

gatecrasher_cebollero.jpg
Today’s art of the day is from John Cebollero. He has done work for DC, Marvel,Cartoon Network & Topps. His work at Topps was for the “Hollywood Zombies” cards, and John’s work was by far my favorite of the set.

His work is wonderfully nostalgic, and to me represents the best of what you can find when looking at art by Bill Ward, old Mad Magazines and Garbage Pail Kids. His pencil works are amazing and his acrylic works are amazing, and his acrylic paintings such as the one he has showing in the B Movie show, has David Macdowell and I trying to sell some blood so we can have split custody with it.

John also just updated and redid his website. So you can now head on over, take a look at his work and maybe buy a print once he has that section updated. John Cebollero homepage
